Courthouse Security Pass Rules and Regulations

Effective September 1st, 2017 Attorney Security Passes will be processed BY APPOINTMENT ONLY ON TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS. To obtain an Attorney Security Pass, you will need:

  1. Driver's License or State ID
  2. Current ARDC Card
  3. $35.00 fee in CASH or CHECK ONLY. We do not accept debit/credit cards. If you are paying with cash, it MUST BE EXACT CHANGE. No coins will be accepted

In accordance with PUBLIC SAFETY (430 ILCS 66/) Firearm Concealed Carry Act, concealed weapons are not allowed in the Will County Court House.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office Attorney Card does not permit the bearer to possess a concealed firearm in the court house regardless of whether or not the Attorney has a valid Concealed Carry Permit.

Effective August 1, 2012 all Attorneys will be required to present a Will County Sheriff's Office Attorney Security Pass in order to access the Will County Court House via a separate entrance. In order for an Attorney to obtain a Will County Sheriff's Office Attorney Security Pass, an Attorney must do the following:

Attorneys may pick up applications at the Will County Sheriff's Office, Internal Affairs/Merit Commission Office, 25 N. Ottawa St. Suite 304 (First Midwest Bank Building), Joliet, Illinois 60432.

Once an application is completed the Attorney must go to the Will County Sheriff's Office, Internal Affairs/Merit Commission Office to have their picture taken and the card issued.

When coming to pick up the card the Attorney must bring their Drivers License or State issued ID, as well as their current and valid ARDC card. The Attorney must agree to the rules and regulations governing the issuance and use of the Attorney Security Pass. 

Attorney Security Passes must be obtained in-person by the Attorney between the hours of 8:030 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. by appointment by calling the Will County Sheriff's Office Internal Affairs/Merit Commission Office at 815-723-1648.

The cost of the Attorney Security Pass is $35.00 (cash or check only, payable to the Will County Sheriff's Office, if paying by cash, exact change is required. The passes will valid for one year from the month of issue.

The cost to replace a lost, stolen, or damaged card is $5.00
