Prison Rape Elimination
The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) was signed into law by then President George W. Bush in September 2003.
Sexual contact between inmates or between staff, Visitors, Volunteers or contractors and inmates is never permitted and is a crime.
Reports of such activity will be investigated and anyone found in violation is subject to criminal prosecution.
The Will County Sheriff’s Office enforces the Prison Rape Elimination Act and will prosecute violators.
